Starting 01.01.2021, I decided to read (at least) 1 book per week (updated list below). Why?

[…] Nevertheless, I suggest a counterintuitive approach for at least a few goals in our life: do not care and exaggerate!I’m not saying “dream big (and fail fast)”, “be foolish” or other nonsense claims so naïf and so 90s: I am a pragmatic and rational person, so I’ll try to explain better.Just as utopia serves to give direction (and can perhaps be reached later by a better civilization and with superior means we now don’t even imagine), so we should (at least once in a while, in some areas we care about) set ourselves ambitious goals to the point of not being achievable. In order to provide a quick example: starting last year, I set out to read 52 books, obviously a quite large number: not only compared to the average number of books a normal person read during a year, but specially considering that almost all the titles are “non-fictional”, often stuff to study or even to put into practice with homeworks (e.g.: meditation or designing your life) – if you’re interested, this is my updated books list. […] Cionondimeno, suggerisco un approccio controintuitivo per almeno un po’ degli obiettivi della nostra vita: fregatevene ed esagerate!Non sto qui a dire “dream big (and fail fast)”, “be foolish” e tutta quella roba nonsense dal sapore americano così naïf e così anni 90: sono una persona pragmatica e razionale, quindi proverò a spiegarmi meglio.Come l’utopia serve a dare una direzione (e forse raggiungerla in futuro, magri da una civiltà migliore e con mezzi innovativi che ora non immaginiamo nemmeno), così dovremmo (almeno una volta ogni tanto, in alcune aree che teniamo a cuore) darci obiettivi ambiziosi al punto di non essere realizzabili (o esserlo con molta fatica). Per fare un rapido esempio: a partire dallo scorso anno, mi son proposto di leggere 52 libri ogni anno, ovviamente un numero (per molti) abbastanza elevato: non solo rispetto alla media dei libri che una persona normale legge in un anno, ma soprattutto considerando che la quasi totalità dei titoli sono di saggistica, non narrativa, spesso roba da studiare o anche da mettere in pratica con tanto di compiti (es: meditazione o progettare la tua vita) – se sei interessato, questa è lista aggiornata di libri letti dal 2021.
